Developed in 1998, the pioneering Neil-Asher Technique for the treatment of Frozen Shoulder, Bicipital Tendinitis, Impingement Syndrome, Shoulder Bursitis, Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy and Shoulder Arthritis is a specific hands-on treatment protocol which has proved to be a highly effective alternative to steroid injections, surgery and traditionally prescribed manual therapy.  Treatment has proved to be 100% successful in 90% of cases treated.

Research has shown that a frozen shoulder results from the way in which the brain responds to inflammation in the long head of the biceps tendon.  In some people, the brain over-reacts to this inflammation by ‘switching off’ certain groups of muscles in the shoulder and changing their dynamics.

The Niel-Asher Technique stimulates groups of receptors embedded in the muscles to forward ‘movement’ messages to the brain.  This creates a new and specific neurological profile within the brain.  By stimulating these reflexes in a specific sequence, it is possible to alter the way the brain then returns movement signals to the shoulder muscles, thereby ‘unlocking’ the frozen shoulder.

The results can be quite dramatic and rapid.  The Niel-Asher Technique works with the body, not by forcing the arm into the restricted ranges, but by applying gentle treatment to the muscles whilst they are at rest.

Suzanne has specialised in the treatment of the shoulder for over 20 years.  In addition to being a highly experienced Registered Osteopath, Suzanne is also an Honours Certified Practitioner of the Niel-Asher Technique.
